good blog Jan

I think part of Trouba's asking price has a lot to do with the fact that they have over 9 million in cap space and he has to live in god forsaken Winnipeg, I'd ask for 7 million a year too.

If he was traded to the Rangers, he'd have to fall in line with their salary structure, probably 4.5 to 5 million a year

I'm sure they'd be given a phone call to gauge his signability before agreeing to any trade

Nice blog Jan. From what Trouba has said, it's less about the money and more about being in a position to play top 4 right side D minutes. He's currently playing top pairing in Winnipeg but on the left side. He wants to be on the right.

Funny no one has mentioned Skapski. Skapski made some excellent saves, and was tracking the puck really well.

Good write up Jan.
AV sure has some figuring out to do with this lineup. So many capable pieces to fit.
I would let Trouba go, and I think Gorton will do that whereas Sather probably would have jumped at the next bright shiny object that crossed his line of sight.
Really interested to see the lineup on opening night.

He was solid, as was The Big Swede after the first goal. Probably some belly butterflies on that one.

Yeah. They both played well, but Skapski made some incredible saves. The one with the toe was fantastic.

If Buff gets moved back to a rover type spot, it would clear up a lot of the issue. But with Buff and Myers there, Trouba gets moved down on the depth chart in that spot.

you know how with the expansion draft you can only protect 3 defensemen, can they just put Buff down as a forward ya think?

All good Jan. I meant all of us too, even last night. Including myself. Thought he had an excellent game and should have been mentioned.

You know, that's actually something I never thought about. I wonder if there's a "minimum amount of games played at a certain position" threshold that guys have to hit to be designated a certain position player.

Like could the Islanders say "OK, we're going to protect 7fwds and 3 defensemen but oh by the way Pulock plays forward now"?

Carp's review:

1) Saw a lot of good things. Some not great things. But, man, this team is quicker and this team is potentially more skilled. I will say this many times in the coming weeks: I think this could be among the top teams in the East … but that depends on the returning guys having better years. And you know the list. If they don’t it won’t matter how much new skill and speed they brought in. - See more at: http://rangers.lohudblogs...tter#sthash.ldRkoKoQ.dpuf

I think its safe to say that Glass, Lapierre, Brown line should never see an NHL game. Ever
